Jennifer Lopez is opening up about her decision to cancel her summer tour earlier this year, revealing now how she was going through a "really difficult time" amid her split from ex Ben Affleck.

During a recent conversation with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine, which covered topics like how she feels being single again and which project she was told would ruin her acting career, the "On the Floor" singer revealed why she ended up canceling her This Is Me... Live tour prior to its June-August run, per People. Lopez announced in May that she was canceling the tour, saying that she was "completely heartsick" about the choice but that it was "absolutely necessary."

"I was so devastated to let anybody down, but I just needed to be with my kids and myself and really dig down deep into things that were happening in my life," she said.

Around this time, Lopez was seemingly dealing with her rocky marriage to Affleck, which was shrouded in rumors for months about how their relationship was over prior to their eventual split when Lopez filed for divorce from the Oscar winner on August 20.

Though she didn't want to disappoint her fans, she knows that the decision was the right move for her as it allowed her to work on herself while surrounded by her loved ones as she endured one of the most difficult experiences of her life.

"And I'm glad I did, because it was a really difficult time for me," she said. "Probably the hardest time of my life, but it was also the best time because I got to do that work on myself."

Lopez assured that she looks forward to getting back on stage and performing for her fans, who she thanked for "understanding" her difficult choice to cancel the tour.

"I can't wait to get back out there," she said. "I have the most understanding and loving fans in the world. Some fan bases can be spicy. Mine are just a bunch of lovers."
