Brandi Carlile and Patty Loveless joined together for a star-powered tribute to Vince Gill on a big night in his career.
Gill was honored with the 2025 CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 59th CMA Awards in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday (November 19), joining past recipients and country legends like include Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, George Strait, Johnny Cash, Alan Jackson.
Carlile kicked off the performance of Gill's 1989 song "When I Call Your Name," crooning out the heartbreaking lyrics of coming home to an empty home after their partner left them just a "note on the table that told me goodbye." Loveless then walked onto the stage just in time for the chorus and the duo showed off their musical prowess and the song's emotional depth with impressive harmonies.
Gill was tuned into the entire performance, eyes glued to the stage with a smile on his face as his wife, singer Amy Grant, sat by his side in support. The crowd at Bridgestone Arena were also loving the tribute, singing along before giving Carlile and Loveless and standing ovation. Gill was then presented the award by last year's recipient George Strait.
Led by return host Lainey Wilson, the 2025 CMA Awards featured a host of incredible performances, including Carlile and Loveless, Kelsea Ballerini, Megan Moroney, Kenny Chesney, Luke Combs, Ella Langley, Old Dominion, Shaboozey, Zach Top, Riley Green, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Keith Urban, The Red Clay Strays, Chris Stapleton, BigXthaPlug, Tucker Wetmore and Stephen Wilson Jr.
