Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to Before Breakfast, a production of iHeartRadio. Good Morning.
This is Laura. Welcome to the Before Breakfast podcast. Today's
tip is to consider last minute get togethers. It is
not always necessary to plan far in advance. Sometimes you

(00:27):
can rally friends and family to gather spontaneously. So longtime
listeners know that I fully support planning ahead for things
that are important to you. For people with busy lives,
what we plan tends to happen. Well. What we mean
to do but don't get on the calendar has a

(00:48):
tendency to remain just a wish. Sometimes, though, an opportunity
for fun presents itself. When that is the case, there
is no reason not to act on it right away.
If you have an idea for a get together, don't
wait for the perfect day with lots of notice. Just
try it. For instance, if there is a big blizzard

(01:10):
and everyone around you is snowbound, make a pot of
chili and invite your neighbors over for supper. Or if
you have a great hill in your yard, invite your
neighbors over for sledding and hot chocolate. If there is
an unexpectedly beautiful early spring day, text a few friends

(01:31):
to see if they can come over for a cookout,
or suggest meeting up at a local park for a walk.
If you ordered a board game, you don't have to
schedule a game night three months in advance. When the
board game arrives, simply text or call a few friends
to see if they want to come over after kid

(01:51):
bedtimes and play the game. Maybe you thought you'd be
away for a work trip but it got canceled the
day you were supposed to leave. Those nights you thought
you'd be away, why not try rallying friends to meet
up for dinner or drinks. You don't have to assume
that a last minute invitation is hopeless and that no

(02:11):
one will be free. Sure, some people might be busy,
which is why it might be worth asking more than
one person, but when you suggest something fun and immediate,
people may turn out to be less busy than you think.
Who knows, maybe somebody else said something canceled too. Are

(02:31):
they just came off a busy work week and didn't
have the energy to think through the weekend. But now
that you have suggested something, hey, that sounds a lot
better than nothing. And if you extend a last minute
invitation and no one can come no worries. The people
you reached out to are highly likely to suggest gathering

(02:53):
another time, so your invitation may lead to fun and
interaction after all. So if a gathering sounds like fun
for you, see if you can make it happen soon.
Today is good. Last minute can sometimes work, and if
it does, feel most likely be happy that it did.

(03:18):
In the meantime, this is Laura. Thanks for listening, and
here's to making the most of our time. Thanks for
listening to Before Breakfast. If you've got questions, ideas, or feedback,
