Documentation is extremely important for victims and survivors of domestic violence and narcissistic abuse.  But is what you are documenting really going to matter?  And how can we keep it safe?

In this episode of The Rising Beyond Podcast, I interview Sheri Kurdakul on her experience as a survivor, the shortcomings of the family court system and other larger systems, and why she decided to create Victims Voice.  She critiques the existing legal and therapeutic approaches to domestic violence, especially the requirement of mandatory co-parenting in such situations, and calls for more accountability.

the Victims Voice app, a tool she created to help victims of domestic abuse document their experiences in a legally admissible way. The episode explores how this app aids survivors and professionals across various sectors, emphasizing the importance of privacy, safety, and inclusivity for all victims, including those within the LGBTQ and indigenous communities.

We also briefly touch on the ethical considerations when partnering with other organizations and the decision to operate as a for-profit instead of a nonprofit.

Sheri Kurdakul is the Founder of EBinRA, Inc. dba VictimsVoice and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Formerly, she was the Managing Partner of Holistic Business Solutions, a small business, and nonprofit consulting firm. As a survivor of child abuse, child sexual assault, sexual assault, and domestic violence, she has devoted herself to ensuring victims of discrimination, harassment, and abuse are heard, believed, and able to seek legal justice. She resides in Central New Jersey with her husband and daughter, as well as a myriad of adopted furry family members.
