Christine McMulkin: The Relationship Between Attachment Style and Self-Compassion | Bouncing Back #7
Attachment style can be understood as how people interact, respond, and behave with one another to create a deep emotional bond between them. Since we were born, we have been familiarized with different attachment styles as we were being loved and cared for by our caregivers. Those early experiences are what shaped our ability to be compassionate towards ourselves.
In this episode of Bouncing Back: The Personal Resilience Science Insights Podcast, host Tia Harmer is joined by Christine Grace McMulkin, a certified Mindful Self Compassion Teacher and a Compassion Focused therapist. Christine’s deep devotion to her personal practice continues to be fundamental to her wellbeing. She has lived and learned the importance of being with ourselves in kinder and gentler ways as well as strengthening our inner resources and capacity to take self honoring actions and self compassion. This helps us in life’s challenges by living with greater ease, finding courage, and contentment.
The podcast began with Christine’s personal definition of attachment style and self-compassion. Then, she also shared how different early attachment that people get as an infant would shape us in every aspect of life and how attachment style & self compassion can affect personal resilience.
