Born as Richard Benjamin Speck, on December 6, 1941 in Kirkwood, IL; he is known for murdering 8 female students who lived together on the south side of Chicago. But that wasn’t the beginning of his crimes. As we’ve seen with all other cases; this was escalated behavior. Prior to these murders, he had been responsible for other acts of violence against his family and others. Additionally, Speck was pretty good at escaping the police…until he wasn’t. His talent ran out in 1966, after his killing spree, when he was captured two days later.
For this episode, I tried to stick to the dates and the facts that we knew about him/his criminal life. In part 2, we will delve more into our thoughts about his upbringing, his behavior, and his mental state whilst committing his crimes.

So, join us tomorrow for Part 2 - where Brittany (from Where the Weird Things Are Podcast and I will do a deep dive discussion about the case, the people involved, our thoughts regarding nature vs nurture, and much more.
