Update: The band dropped the song a day early on Thursday (August 29).
During a recent episode of The Woody Show More Show Podcast, Tom DeLonge described Angels & Airwaves' new material as a balance between the band's signature soaring sound and blink-182's rock nuance.
“The new Angels & Airwaves record that’s coming out is probably going to be the best record of my career — definitely the best Angels record," he said. "I think we found a really good place to live that sounds like a rock & roll band but has the soaring capabilities that we’ve always had.”
Now, he's proving his point by teasing a new song called "Kiss & Tell" that sounds like it could be a B-side from his early aughts project, Box Car Racer. The track begins with a heavy '80s synth line reminiscent of the Stranger Things theme song before transitioning into a more rock sound.
"Kiss & Tell" drops this Friday (August 30). Listen to a teaser below.
"Kiss & Tell" is the second taste of AVA's upcoming album, following "Rebel Girl." The record is currently halfway done, and DeLonge plans to finish it after tour with hopes for a summer 2020 release. AVA head out on their first tour in 12 years next month. Check out a full list of dates here.
