5 Strange Guinness World Records Set By Texans

Texans are amazing people.

Some are blessed with record breaking bodies, like the Cedar Park teen with the world's longest legs, or are so devoted to their hobbies that they go on to break records, like a DFW woman with an huge video game collection.

There's also a number of Texans who hold world records for things that just make you ask "why?"

Below are some of the strangest and most off-the-wall records Texans have broken.

1. Heaviest ball of dog hair

The good people at Texas Hearing and Service Dogs (now Service Dogs, Inc.) collected enough dog hair to form a ball that weighed 91.172 kg (201 lb). The record was official set on April 7, 2012.

2. Most eggs crushed with the toes in 30 seconds

Ewww, this must have been so uncomfortably squishy. Tyler Toney from Prosper, Texas, is one of the guys behind the sports comedy group Dude Perfect. He managed to crush 45 eggs with his toes in 30 seconds on October 16, 2008, as part of The Dude Perfect Show on Nickelodeon.

Toney holds a few other records, including most lemons/limes sliced in 30 seconds (66) and the farthest American football throw into a target (50 yards).

3. Woman with the longest fingernails

Houston woman Ayanna Williams grew her nails for 30 years until they had the combined length of 24 ft 0.7 in. She's held the record for longest nails since 2017, but she finally decided to cut her claws in March 2021.

4. Largest Frito pie

Frito pie (aka a walking taco) are a Texas delicacy so it only makes sense that the biggest one was made in Texas. Frito-Lay broke the record at the 2012 State Fair of Texas with a 601.01 kg (1,325 lb) Frito pie made out of 635 bags of Fritos corn chips, 660 cans of Hormel Chili without beans, and 580 bags of shredded cheddar cheese. The giant pie made 5,000 or so servings.

5. Fastest sandwich made using feet

Rob Williams of Austin made a bologna and cheese sandwich with his feet in 1 minute and 57 seconds in 2000. During that time he managed take two slices of bread out of a package, unwrap two slices of American cheese, build the sandwich, and top it off with olives on cocktail sticks.
