On Monday afternoon, Atlanta taxi driver Giles Patrick Manido transported a passenger to the airport who had murdered two people moments before stepping into the taxi. According to WSB-TV, Manido picked up Raissa Kengne, from a hotel in Midtown located off of 14th Street and continued to the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport without knowing what had just occurred.
“This lady, she’s always calm,” Manido shared with WSB-TV. The taxi driver mentioned that he had driven Kenge a few times in the past. Just before getting into the cab, 34-year-old Kengne shot and killed building manager Michael Shinners and bystander Wesley Freeman in Midtown. She injured building engineer Micheal Horne who remains at a local hospital in unknown condition.
WSB-TV mentioned that during the taxi ride, Kengne asked Mandino to stop at a house that she said was her lawyers house. No one came to the door and Kengne got back into the taxi.
After police discovered that Kengne was picked up by a taxi, they contacted the company and got in touch with the driver. By the time the taxi arrived at the airport, police knew that the suspect would be at the international terminal.
Body camera footage released by the Atlanta Police Department detailed Kengne being arrested. She is handcuffed and placed in the police car, and her suitcase is put in the trunk. Kenge appeared in court on Tuesday.
