People relocate all the time, and some areas of the country are feeling the impact of population growth more than others.
That’s why Stacker ranked the Top 30 fastest-growing counties in the state. The data journalism hub notes that population changes can often be credited to “job opportunities, high quality of life, easy commutability to job centers, low rents, or any combination of these or other factors.”
Using U.S. Census Bureau data, Stacker ranked the counties in Georgia with the highest population growth from 2010 to 2019 based on 5-year estimates, according to its report.
Stacker determined, according to its report:
“A county typically sees population growth as a 'bedroom community' (a municipality with an atypically large commuting population) to a large city. These communities are typically quieter than their feeder cities, offer lower rents and a higher quality of living, and are remote enough to be immune to the feeder city’s crime, traffic, and crowds.”
These are the Top 10 fastest-growing counties in Georgia, according to Stacker:
- Fulton County
- Gwinnett County
- Cobb County
- Forsyth County
- DeKalb County
- Cherokee County
- Columbia County
- Chatham County
- Henry County
- Paulding County
