Fans have been craving new music from Rihanna for years but now it seems like they'll finally get what they've been wishing for.
On Tuesday night, October 25, Marvel Studios posted a cryptic teaser ahead of the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The brief clip doesn't have any sound; it only shows the title of the upcoming film. Due to previous reports about Rihanna's involvement with the film's soundtrack, the clip was a clear sign to fans that the singer plans to make her comeback this Friday. Then, earlier today, she posted her own clip and confirmed the title of the song, "Lift Me Up."

According to a press release, the song is co-written by Tems, Ludwig Goransson, Ryan Coolger and Rihanna herself. It was written as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman. It was recorded in five countries and is produced by Goransson.
It's been six years since Rihanna dropped a solo record. After dropping her ANTI album in 2016, she had only appeared as a feature on select songs like N.E.R.D.'s "Lemon," DJ Khaled's "Wild Thoughts" alongside Bryson Tiller and PARTYNEXTDOOR's "Believe It." Her song "Kiss It Better" was sampled in Amorphous' "Sunshine (The Light)" with Fat Joe and DJ Khaled, which dropped last year.
Outside of those records, Rihanna has been teasing her own album. She's yet to provide concrete details like the album's title and release date. However, she did say that she's been working on a reggae album and has posted one or two videos of her working on new music over the years. Recently, she was spotted in the studio with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky after she gave birth to their first child. With her new single on the way and her scheduled performance at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show next year, fans will finally get their wish for new music from bad gal RiRi.
That Rihanna reign begins on Friday, October 28. Check out a clip of the song below.
