Doja Cat has finally announced new music! This week, the hitmaker announced a new single which is set to drop on Friday, June 16th. The name of the forthcoming single wasn't shared but she did post the single cover art, which features blood splatters that form an upside-down "A."

Before the exciting announcement, Doja tweeted hints having to do with The Scarlet Letter. "Scarlet was here," she tweeted back in May, along with a blood drop emoji. Earlier this month, she kept teasing with tweets that read, "Scarlet's watching," and "Let myself heat, scar finally sealed." She also took to Instagram to share a teasing photo in which all but the side of her arm and a cross and chains covering her chest are covered in darkness.

Doja has been teasing her new music since last year, but most of it seemed to be trolling. The genre of her follow-up album to 2021's Planet Her has been a hot topic among her fanbase. After claiming that the album was going to be called Hellmouth, she later told fans, "its not called hEllMoUth either its called First of All and yes I'm announcing the album title right now."

She also stated that her last two albums were "mediocre pop" and simply cash grabs. “Planet Her and Hot Pink were cash-grabs and yall fell for it,” she tweeted. “now i can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on an island while yall weep for mediocre pop.”

In another tweet, Doja told fans she was done with pop music. “No more pop,” she said. “I also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny. I know they are. I wasnt trying to prove anything I just enjoy making music but I’m getting tired of hearing yall say that i can’t so I will.”
