Prince William has returned to social media to share his first message since the public announcement that his wife, Kate Middleton, was diagnosed with cancer and undergoing treatment.

The Prince of Wales made his first social media post on Wednesday (April 10) since Middleton's diagnosis was revealed, responding to soccer star Rachel Daly, announcing her retirement from international competition, per People. In addition to her position with Aston Villa, Daly also played for the Lionesses, England's women's national soccer team. The star footballer reportedly still plans to play at the club level with Villa, of which Prince William is reportedly a big fan.

"Thank you for so many unforgettable performances with @Lionesses @RachelDaly3. Plenty more goals for Villa now! W"

Prince William's return to social media comes weeks after Middleton, whose official title is Catherine, Princess of Wales, announced in a video on Friday (March 22) that she is beginning preventative chemotherapy treatment for cancer that was discovered following her major abdominal surgery on January 16 that saw her hospitalized for two weeks. Calling the diagnosis a "huge shock," she said she is feeling well and "getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirits."

The Princess of Wales has since received support from people around the world, including Prince Harry and Megan Markle as well as King Charles, who is currently dealing with his own cancer diagnosis.
