Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to Before Breakfast, a production of iHeartRadio. Good Morning,
This is Laura. Welcome to the Before Breakfast podcast. Today's
tip is to create occasions for sharing. When you can
engineer some abundance into your life so you can share
(00:27):
your abundance with others, It might be easier than you think, so.
I recently heard of a couple who bought two extra
season tickets to their local college basketball team's games. The
upside of that decision was that they could always invite
people to join them. They had a ready option for
(00:50):
suggesting a get together with anyone they met or knew
but wanted to get to know better. If the new
neighbors mentioned watching a game on TV, they could invite
them to go with them to a live event. If
someone had them over for dinner, they could reciprocate by
offering them the seats. They consciously generated a surplus and
(01:15):
thus created occasions for sharing. I think this is a
great idea for nurturing relationships now. To be sure, getting
extra season tickets anywhere could be pricey, but there are
lots of cheaper ways to generate abundance that can then
be shared. I bought a few extra tickets to the
(01:36):
middle school musical, so my daughter could ask friends to
go along. You can get season tickets to some local
venue just for you and your significant other, knowing you
won't be able to use them for a certain number
of weeks, but that will nudge you to actively look
for people to pass those along to. Gardeners tend to
(01:59):
generate a b abundance, whether they want to or not.
There's that joke about people locking their cars in certain
small Midwestern towns, so neighbors don't leave bags of zucchini
on their seats. You can make extra loaves of bread
if you're baking, or extra cupcakes. Someone will be glad
(02:21):
to have them. If you are renting a house at
the beach for a week or two, you might get
an extra bedroom beyond what you need, so you can
invite friends, relations, and so forth to come for a
night and enjoy the vacation destination with you. The idea
is to look for fairly easy ways to generate some
(02:42):
sort of desirable surplus. Now, perhaps people don't truly want
your extra zucchini, but a bag of homegrown, in seasoned
tomatoes or farm fresh eggs from your chickens is an
entirely different matter. If you are a fan of a
team or a destination, people might enjoy catching some of
(03:05):
that enthusiasm from you. Creating an abundance allows you to
share it, so why not look for opportunities in the meantime.
