Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to Before Breakfast, a production of iHeartRadio. Good Morning,
This is Laura. Welcome to the Before Breakfast podcast. Today's
tip is to remind yourself of your resolutions. As we
head into the middle of the year. Some of your

(00:26):
annual goals may no longer be top of mind, but
if something still matters to you, there is plenty of
time to make those goals be part of your life
before the year ends. So often in my talks, I
encourage people to think about what they would like to
have done by the end of the year. What would

(00:49):
you like to say in a professional performance review. What
would you like to be talking about with your friends
and family at a holiday party. Now, depending on when
the speech is I often have to modify this a bit.
If it is October, then we are probably going to
be thinking about the next year. But as I was

(01:10):
giving my talk a few times in May recently, I
realized that it was totally fine to still be talking
about the end of the year and what could happen
by then. Seven months is a lot of time. My
guess is that if you are listening to this podcast,
you probably thought a bid in December and January about

(01:31):
your goals. For this year. Ideally you revisit these goals frequently,
but if you haven't, now is a great time to
take another look. Did you write these goals down somewhere?
Go find that page in your notebook or planner, or
if you keep a journal, or maybe remember emailing friends

(01:53):
or accountability partners about your goals. Go back and take
a look. I often record an annual goals podcast for
Best of Both Worlds my other podcast. So I have
this all pretty easy here. I just go back and
listen to that episode. Then I can remind myself of
what I plan to do during the year. I can

(02:16):
check in midyear to see if I am still on track.
As I did this recently, I was happy to see
that a few big things have happened or are in process,
and that is awesome. A few things have not. When
that is the case, midyear is a good time to

(02:37):
pause and ask why do those goals still feel relevant
and exciting to you? If so, that is amazing. It
is time to rededicate yourself to their pursuit. If they
no longer feel motivational, then it is perfectly fine to

(02:57):
toss them. Janu where are you does not get to
dictate everything about May or June you and on through
the rest of the year. Feel free to let things go,
or you could come up with different goals that you'd
like to pursue instead. But the hope is that all

(03:19):
of this will be intentional. It is kind of disheartening
to put a goal on your annual list again and
again year after year, simply because life gets busy and
you just don't wind up putting the effort in, or
you forget better to remember the goals you set so

(03:42):
you can actively decide what you want to do with
them in the meantime. This is Laura. Thanks for listening,
and here's to making the most of our time. Thanks
