Speaker 1 (00:00):
Donkey of today does not discriminate. I might not have
the song the Donkey Day, the breakfast club.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Bit, just don't keep to day today.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Let me tell you why I.

Speaker 4 (00:13):
Love Jesse Hilarius and that's why that's my sister. Because
I was gonna say something. I was just gonna wait
till the mice came on. Now it's one, two, three, four, five, six,
eight people in this room. It was it was smelled
so bad in this room several seconds ago crazy.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
I was just waiting to say something.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
Okay, So Jesson, now whoever wanted a fart in this room,
you know, like you should have.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Said you should should should have said it before you.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Let one look here has the thing. I don't know
if that was the part. All I'm saying, I don't
know who it is. There's still six people in what
is I'm still lingering.

Speaker 5 (00:42):
I'm not saying my baby wasn't even moving. Its all
I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Another candle Donkey Today for Wednesday, May eighth goes to
everyone who was upset with Minnesota Timberwolds player Rudy Gobet
Okay from Draymond Green to Gil with a ring and
is by the way two of my favorite personalities by far.
I like listening to these brothers talk basketball. So let's
be clear, they know way more about this basketball subject
than me. But since when in this era that you

(01:11):
have to have knowledge to speak on something? Now, Rudy Gobert,
who was named Defensive Player of the Year for a
fourth time yesterday, missed Game two of the NBA Playoffs
versus the Denver Nuggets because of what I believe is
a really legitimate reason, the birth of.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
His very first child. The run of applause for Rudy
Gobert and the mother of his child.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
I don't know many men who would want to miss
the birth of their very first child under any circumstances.
Those kids are gonna be in your life long after
basketball is over. The birth of a child is not
one of those things you get the witness again. I
can remember every single one of my babies when they
came into this world, especially the first one. Okay, my
first daughter came out to womb with prayer hands. I
promise you she came out holding her hands together like

(01:51):
she was praying. And that is a memory I will
never forget, one of the greatest moments, memories of my life.
So as a man, I completely respect and appreciate Rudy
putting his fan me in the birth of his child
over basketball. Gilbert Arenas thinks otherwise. Can we listen to
what Gilberenas had to say on the give with Arenas
your show.

Speaker 6 (02:06):
So got an interesting wrinkle for game two. Rudy Gobert
is questionable for the game through the personal reason that's
becoming a father for the first time.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Game for that baby.

Speaker 7 (02:17):
That's a baby, bro, Ain's gonna be there when you
get back, Hope.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
I mean you know, I'm just saying.

Speaker 7 (02:24):
Whatever you're about to think you're about to do with
the is he gonna be sleep? I get that gave
you want to be with your wife and smile and
stuff and your good NBA healthcare insurance.

Speaker 6 (02:34):
Right, it's because of you playing so first child not
of important this game to the second round playoffs.

Speaker 7 (02:40):
Man, Listen, she in the hospital.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
With great doctors. You taking your goofy ass down. He's
on the baby right, all right? You I g daddy,
just lor whatever, Just off the phone.

Speaker 7 (02:55):
I'll see you after the game.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Now.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
I find Give with arena'shilarious and most of the time
I agree with things he says, but now it's not
one of those times I think we take Gilbert serious
when he's just clearly joking. But I don't think he's
joking right here. But I'm also not an NBA player.
I don't have that NBA mindset. Draymond Green had similar
thoughts on The Draymond Green Show.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Let's Listen.

Speaker 6 (03:14):
I was a little skeptical and starting the game off
number one because Rudy was going to miss the game,
and I just felt like, I'm a father of for
I love my kids and I love my wife, but
she's gonna have to hold.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Off for me.

Speaker 6 (03:29):
It's just a few more hours for a playoff game.
Like I just me personally number one. Congratulations to him
anytime we you know, we have we bring new life
into this world. It's a special thing and that's something,
as I said, as a father of for that I
don't take for granted at all. But I also don't
try not to take this game for granted.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Is that how this works? Yes, you could just hold
off when having a baby to the game. Absolutely not.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
You will come home to knock me or the baby.
I want to run up and down the court and
put a ball in the hoop. Well, I don't care
playoffs and no playoffs.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Once again, ballplayers talking ball we civilians. It's a different
mindset they have.

Speaker 6 (04:10):
Now.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
I don't know if Draymond Green truly believes this. He
just doesn't like Rudy go Bed. We know Draymond isn't
a fan of Rudy go Bed because we watched them
put Draymond in a million dollar dream. I mean, we
watched him put Rudy and a million dollar dream in
the middle of a game for no reason, okay, trying
to decapitate him in the middle of a basketball game
just because. So you have to take what Draymond says
with a grain of salt as well. And I do
take into consideration once again that they are professional basketball players.

(04:30):
A lot of times we on the sidelines contributing to
these convos.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
We don't have the mindset that they have.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Okay, we know nothing about what they think as a
basketball player, but as a human, just the man. I
don't have any problem with Rudy go Bed missing the
second round game too in an NBA playoffs to see.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
The birth of his first child.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
I mean, Jesus, and we have black men gotta be
careful about this type of stuff because they are always
ready to reinforce this false narrative that we're not there
for our children, which we know is a damn lie,
which said the child will be there when he gets back,
hopefully hopefully so in this series though we already up
one to zero in the series, the worst.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Case scenarios is we lose and it's tide.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Best case scenarios we win without him, which they did,
so Rudy made the right choice. Now what makes this
even more strange? As Gilbert and Draymond gave this criticism
after Game two was over and the Timberwolves won. If
they would have lost, you would have had every right
to say, you know, that's why you should have been
on the court. I would have still disagreed with you,
But it's a better debate when the Wolves lose.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
When the Wolves win, y'all just look.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Like dudes who care about basketball more than you care
about your kids.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
And I know that's not the case.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
But guys, y'all know we live in an era where
folks think their perception is their reality. Why even give
folks the opportunity to run with those content narratives? Okay,
I saw people reaching in regards to Gilbert trying to
say we're not taking parenting advice from a guy who
once did this and a guy who once did that.
Trust me, nothing they were bringing up that I saw
had anything to do with this situation. Okay, bringing guns

(06:00):
in the locker room has nothing to do with his
opinion on Rudy Gobert missing a playoff game. Now, Shannon Sharp,
and don't your single weight in as well.

Speaker 7 (06:07):
Let's listen, it all depend if it's a playoff game,
we'll have another baby. I don't know if I'm gonna
be able to make it to the playoff. If it's
the super Bowl, I'm damn sure ain't missing that. In
Rudy's case, the baby was born, and I'm assuming I'm
hoping that mother and child was okay. Once I find
out mother and child is okay, I think it's his
first child.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
So he let him get the number two. He might FaceTime,
he might zoo the whole thing.

Speaker 7 (06:32):
But oh Jo, that's something with her that you need
to have discussed beforehand. So therefore, when it happens, nobody
is surprised.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
You know I'm playing. I ain't missing no game, and
get it in July.

Speaker 7 (06:44):
So guess what the off season, the baby come out
of season. God, y'all gotta play a little better. I'm
gonna be there for the bird. Once you okay, I'm gone.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
What that makes sense? But once you have birth, I'm gone.
I get that. I do think we have to go
to breakfast.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Club court, though, before I give this heat hall, because
I'm a civilian and a lot of these professional athletes
do have me questioning myself just a little bit. I
never played professional sports, so maybe my take is just
a little bit off. So let's open up the phone line.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
All right, let's the way on club court five eight five,
one oh five one.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Rudy Gobern he missed Game two of the playoffs because
he wanted to be there when his baby was born.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
He wanted to be there with his lady.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
And neither high level athlete, right, Gilbert Aarenas, this is
Draymond Green, this is even though it's not basketball, it's
Shannon Sharp Boulders, he's a high level athlete, saying they
would have missed the game as well.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Let's talk. I remember Shannon a little bit more than
all of them. Those he said I would have watched
the birth and then went to.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Get out of dodge, right, first baby, First baby. Eight
hundred and five, eight five, one oh five to one.
You know how tough the playoffs are right now? The
Minnesota Timperwolves quote unquote were supposed to lose, right because
everybody was favoring Denver to win this series.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Former champion, that's right.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
So the fact that the champions, he was needed game
two because they really need all their pieces, and they
know how how hard it is to win the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
They win a series, to.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Win a conference finals, to win the chip.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
My Knicks haven't done it in years. By the way,
football is a little bit more. Would probably confuse you
a little bit more because they won and done right.
NBA series I'm missing again, so.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Let's talk about it. Eight hundred five, eight five, one
oh five to one. What are your thoughts? Jesse Hilarry said,
if her man went to the game, She's gone, that's right.
Get would make me go to the game. Get, but like,
go to the game, We're gonna watch the game. I wouldn't.
But she would be like, go to the game, We're
gonna watch the gain. I wouldn't. I would be kind
of like what Shay shy said, I'm gonna wait till
the baby comes out. Baby you okay, gone.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Yeah, that's what I be.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Let's open up the phone long eight hundred five, eight
five one oh five.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
Let's and let the record show it still smells like
Call of Greens in this room.

Speaker 5 (08:42):
Smells like it ain't smell like no damn Kyler Greens.
A minute ago, it was the Big Eggs.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Because it's the breakfast Slocoming.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
