BTS Celebrate Christmas With Emotionally-Charged 'Life Goes On' Performance

BTS delivered an emotionally-charged performance of their new song “Life Goes On.”

The septet returned to The Late Late Show With James Corden on Monday night (November 23) to perform the lead single from their fifth studio Korean-language album, BE.

In last night’s presentation, bandmates RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook found themselves stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic while waiting until Christmas arrives. As each member sings parts of the song, the camera pans out on the boys performing in different rooms as part of a never-ending stage design before reuniting by the Christmas tree.

BTS dropped “Life Goes On” to mark the release of their newest album, which comes months after the band unveiled February’s Map of the Soul: 7 and July’s Map of the Soul: 7 — The Journey.

BE features several tracks including their smash hit single “Dynamite” as well as “Telepathy,” “Skit," "Blue & Grey,” “Stay,” “Fly to My Room,” and “Dis-ease.”

BTS premiered “Life Goes On” live for the first time this weekend at the 2020 American Music Awards at Microsoft Theater on Sunday (November 22). By the end of the ceremony, the South Korean pop stars had taken home Favorite Social Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Duo or Group.

According to a previous press release, BTS’ BE “imparts a message of healing to the world by declaring, ‘Even in the face of this new normality, our life goes on.’”

As Jin explained of the album’s title to The Rolling Stone India, “This album is like a page in our diary of the times we are currently living in. The album title BE represents ‘being’ and captures the honest thoughts and emotions we are feeling at the moment.”
