De La Soul's anticipated album has finally arrived, and it's an incredible tribute to the group's late member David "Trugoy the Dove" Jolicoeur.

On Friday, November 21, Posdnuos and DJ Maseo released their 10th studio album Cabin In The Sky via Mass Appeal. The album begins with an intro by actor Giancarlo Esposito, who calls out all the contributors to the 20-track LP. It continues with several songs that feature unheard bars by Dave from "YUHDONTSTOP" all the way until the final track ,"Don't Push Me." During their appearance on The Breakfast Club, Pos and Maseo said making the album was "therapeutic," but it also allowed them to celebrate Dave's life.

"The main thing was for our partner who's no longer here, Dave," Pos said. "Cabin In The Sky was for him. It's still the normal muscle memory of trying to make a beautiful, great album that has good lyrics, good sound, good themes as De La has always done. But the album is basically like we're doing this album with him rhyming from heaven."

De La Soul enlisted Nas, Q-Tip, Slick Rick, Killer Mike, Bilal, Common, Black Thought, Jay Pharoah, and others to contribute to the album. They also tapped DJ PREMIER, Pete Rock, Supa Dave West, Nottz, and more to throw down beats. After sharing singles like "The Package," De La Soul debuted their collaboration with Nas, "Run It Back!!", during their appearance on Fat Joe & Jadakiss' podcast, Joe & Jada. On his verse, Nas addresses the state of Hip-Hop in 2025 and name-drops several acts who are impacting the music industry in general.

"As wild as the '80s, '90s and '00s, how it was sick/How did it slip?" he raps. "Now it's just Doechii, Dot and SZA with most powerful hits/Leon Thomas, Shaboozey with the country rap."

Pos and Maseo released the album as part of Mass Appeal's "Legend Has It" series. Their latest body of work arrived after Slick Rick, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep and Big L shared their rare projects. The final installment of the series, Nas & DJ PREMIER's long-awaited joint album, will drop on December 12.
