A Fourth Stimulus Check? It's Already Being Batted Around

Only a handful of days have passed since the House of Representatives passed a relief package that includes a third stimulus check, but even though the Senate hasn't yet approved it and Americans are still weeks away from seeing that $1,400 direct payment, there is already talk of a fourth stimulus check, and that may not even be the last one.
Now that nearly a year has passed since the pandemic caused lockdowns across the country, millions of Americans are struggling financially, and while the first stimulus check, worth $1,200, the second, worth $600, and this latest one will help, it will take significantly more support to truly make a difference in the lives of those facing such challenging times. For that reason, some politicians are calling for not just a fourth stimulus check, but recurring ones to be delivered until the pandemic ends.
50 Democratic members of the House of Representatives have signed a letter asking President Biden to issue further checks. The letter states, "One more check is not enough during this public health and economic crisis." The representatives are aware of how costly that could become so they made sure to note that the direct payments should only be directed towards "those who need it most and will spend it the quickest."
It will likely be a hard sell for their fellow politicians. The latest relief package just barely passed in the House of Representatives, with 219 voting for it and 212 against it. Those who were not in favor included all the Republican representatives and two Democrats. Meanwhile, the Senate is currently debating the bill and because even some Democratic Senators feel the $1.9 trillion price tag is too high, this week, President Biden agreed to help to lower it by changing the eligibility so that no one making over $80,000, and no couple making over $160,000, would get a stimulus check.
The hope is to have the package approved in the coming days and see stimulus checks go out a week later. As for if more checks will happen after that, we'll have to wait and see what happens.
