The Laundronauts: A Potentially Untrue Tale Based on Actual Events: A fantasy adventure podcast series that answers the question: Where do the missing socks go? Episode One of this modern day fairytale launches February 28th and boasts 10 episodes, 12 original songs, and 5 hours of ear-to-ear entertainment. Written, directed, and executive produced by Colin MacKenzie Mitchell, the show stars the late great Ed Asner, in one of his final performances, and John Cameron Mitchell, creator and star of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The production is a collaboration between iHeartMedia, Noel Brown, lead executive producer, and Mitchell's own company, Little Brother Sam Productions. In 1930’s San Francisco a boy named JD Belzell is shoved into a washing machine by a bully named Charlie Evans and vanishes. JD’s friends, the Laundronauts, fail to intervene. Wracked with guilt, two of the children, Nick and Mona, go into the washer to try and rescue him, only to discover a magical world beyond the machine where everything that gets buried in the soil blooms to life. The Laundronauts get busy trying to rescue JD. Perry goes into the machine next. He meets a friendly, living, breathing sock. He also meets JD’s alter-ego, Sludge, who is very angry at him. The Sockling saves Perry by punting him into the ominous forest. Perry discovers a city beneath the ground populated by living, breathing clocks and watches. They seem to have captured one of the Socklings. Perry marks the spot for future missio...
Sludge asks Perry to join him in his plot for revenge. Perry rejects him and barely escapes. He ends up in the forest and dozes off, dreaming of his seventh birthday in San Francisco. When he awakens he is still in San Francisco. He realizes he too has power in Absentia. Sludge appears and gives Perry one final chance. Perry snatches Sludge’s magical glasses off of his face, sends the signal back to San Francisco, and runs for it, ...
Perry escapes Absentia with Jonica’s help. They encounter a homeless man with wet blankets who seems to know something about Absentia. Benny is voted next to go into the Jumbotron. Jonica is not happy about the choice. Charlie delivers a message given to him by JD in his dreams: they have been summoned to the Jumbotron at midnight. The Laundronauts prepare to explore Charlie’s dreams in an attempt to rescue Jonica who has been stranded in Absentia. Meanwhile, Jonica searches for Sludge with the help of the Socklings.

In Absentia, Jonica, JD and the Socklings attempt to figure out what to do about Hoodwink. In San Francisco, the Laundronauts finally make contact with Jonica through Charlie’s dreams. But unbeknownst to all, the nefarious Hoodwink continues to pull the strings in the background.

Hoodwink appears in Absentia aided by Charlie Evans. He vanishes again after Sludge regains his power-wielding glasses. Jonica is whisked away by the Socklings to Sludge's home as Sludge decides what to do next about Hoodwink’s unexpected appearance on the scene. In San Francisco, the Laundronauts rush to the Washaterium in the hopes of rescuing Jonica.
