Renovating the Soul

Renovating the Soul

I started Renovating the Soul because I believe in something that took me a long time to say plainly: you already have what you need. The tools are not hidden. They are sitting right in front of you. But you have to pick them up. That means truth. Honesty. Self-reflection. Hard conversations. Admitting mistakes. Acknowledging wrongs. Distancing from what is keeping you small. It means things you won't even know you need to do until you face them. None of it is easy. But all of it is available to you. The foundation you were given wasn't your choice. Rebuilding is. This is not a podcast about having it all together. It's about the real, unglamorous, ongoing work of becoming. Faith, identity, relationships, generational patterns, purpose, discipline — all of it, honestly. Your soul is your home. Let's make it a place you want to live. 🎙 Hosted by Alexandria Robinson · Subscribe and start the renovation.

Strangers can find your work, celebrate it, and even say it changed their life, yet the people who have known you the longest say nothing. If you’ve ever felt that hollow, specific kind of hurt, I’m holding space for it, and then I’m asking us to slow down before we label it as hate.

I start by defining support the real kind, the bearing-weight kind, the showing-up kind and why we keep confusing it with soc...

The “next message” feels so convincing. The next sermon will make it click. The next prophecy will confirm it. The next podcast will finally calm the anxiety and tell us exactly what to do. But what if that pattern is the very reason we stay stuck?

We get honest about how easy it is to confuse constant input with real growth. I define what I mean by a message, share my own complicated relationship with church pro...

Hard things are not a sign you’re doing life wrong. They’re often the first evidence that something real is being built. I start by naming a problem I see everywhere, including in myself: we call something “hard” when it is actually uncomfortable, inconvenient, or demanding discipline. Once we separate hard vs impossible vs uncomfortable, the fog clears and we can stop using our feelings as final proof.

Healing culture promises freedom, but a lot of us end up more tense, more self-conscious, and more afraid to live. I am Alexandria Robinson, and I am naming the pattern I see everywhere: we stack up therapy, journaling, prayer, meditation, and “self-work” and still stay triggered by the same people, repeating the same relationship cycles, and carrying the same pain in a new outfit.

We get honest about why it happ...

Dr. Shalli Deyo spent over 20 years as a pharmacist before she stopped trusting the system she worked inside. Two sons with compounding health conditions, a medicine cabinet full of things that weren't solving anything, and eventually, a decade of watching food and gut health do what prescriptions couldn't. That journey is what brought her to functional medicine, and eventually, to this conversation.

Alexandria and Dr. Shalli get in...

Outsourcing your child’s formation sounds normal until you blink and realize you don’t recognize who they’re becoming. I’m Alexandria Robinson, and I’m walking you through why our family chose homeschooling, not as a trendy identity, but as a conviction about parenting, responsibility, and the long game of raising future adults.

I unpack the biggest homeschooling myths head-on: “homeschool...

More than 20 rejections. Not one acceptance. And somehow, the hardest part is not the “no” itself; it is the shame that tries to make you whisper about it.

I’m Alexandria, and I’m sharing the part of the story we usually skip: not getting into law school after going all in. I walk through the law school application process from the inside, what it’s like to study for the LSAT as a wife and mom o...

Alexandria comes back to the mic for Season 3 with something she hasn't fully said yet: the last year was hard, and she's still in the very messy middle of it:

You can be hurting and still not be lost. That’s the line we keep coming back to as I tell the truth about a year that did not go to plan: leaving ministry and watching friendships go silent, losing my job, applying and hearing nothing back, getting rejected from school...

The ground can feel solid—until it isn’t. When mass layoffs hit the federal government, I lost the job I’d poured nearly five years into, right after earning my warrant and hitting a career stride that finally felt like mine. What followed wasn’t just a scramble for the next paycheck; it was a full-body pause to ask what kind of life I actually wanted to build. I walk through the shock, the one-week ultimatu...

For a long time, I thought I needed closure to move on. I thought I needed that one final conversation, the apology, the explanation, the moment that would tie it all together and make it make sense.

But what I’ve learned is that closure doesn’t always come. And even when it does… it doesn’t always heal.

In this episode, I’m sharing the hard truths about closure—the ways we chase it, the reasons w...

We all want real, deep, meaningful friendships—but do we actually know what that looks like?

Friendship isn’t just about funny memes, shared interests, or convenient connections—it’s about loyalty, depth, and showing up when it matters. So why do so many of us struggle to find real, lasting friendships?

In this episode, we’re challenging everything you thought you knew about friendship, including:

"Family is family."

We’ve been told this our whole lives—that no matter what they’ve done, how they treat us, or how much pain they cause—we owe them: loyalty, forgiveness, and endless chances.

But let’s be real—blood alone doesn’t make someone family.

In this episode, we’re stripping away the lies we’ve been conditioned to believe. We’re confronting the guilt, the obligation...

Let’s face it—if you’re feeling stuck, there’s a good chance that someone in your life is either enabling your behavior or you’re enabling someone else.

You might not see it at first, but enabling keeps both sides trapped in a cycle of dependency and avoidance.

In this raw, unfiltered episode, we’re pulling back the curtain on how enabling works—whether you’re the one enabling som...

For too long, the church has sheltered predators and silenced survivors. Behind pulpits, under the banner of faith, spiritual abusers have twisted scripture into a weapon, demanded loyalty over truth, and convinced people that obedience to them is obedience to God.

In this episode, we expose how predators hide in plain sight, why the church protects them, and what it costs to break free. If you've ever experienced spiritual ab...
